Privacy

How we handle your information

KnowAutism.ca is designed to avoid collecting or storing personal health information. There are no accounts, no logins, no profiles, and no database of family information. This page explains our design choices in plain language.

Does the Program Finder store my answers

No. The Program Finder runs entirely in your browser using client side code. Your answers are held in temporary browser memory while you use the tool and are discarded when you close the tab. Nothing is sent to a server. Nothing is saved. There is no way for us to see what you entered.

What information does this site collect

Almost nothing. We do not ask for your name, your child's name, health card numbers, or any identifying information. The site has no accounts and no logins.

Specifically, we do not collect or store:

  • Diagnosis status
  • OAP registration status or invitation details
  • Health card numbers
  • Funding amounts or expense records
  • Program Finder answers or results
  • Any information that identifies you or your child

Does this site use cookies or tracking

As of April 2026, the site does not use analytics tools. If we add privacy friendly analytics in the future (such as Plausible), they will not use cookies, will not track you across sites, and will not collect personal information. We would see only aggregate page view counts. We will never see Program Finder answers or connect any visit to a specific person.

What about the Provider Directory

A Provider Directory is planned but is not yet available on this site. When it launches, it will list providers such as Registered Behaviour Analysts (RBAs), SLPs, and OTs sourced from the publicly available OAP Provider List at oapproviderlist.ca. That is public professional information, not private data. The OAP Provider List is voluntary, so it will not be exhaustive. We will not track which providers you view or search for.

What happens when I sign up for the expense tracker

When you submit your email to get the free OAP Expense Tracker, your email address is stored in a Google Sheet managed by KnowAutism.ca. That is the only information collected. Specifically:

  • What we store: your email address and the date you signed up.
  • Why: to provide the tracker, send updates about tracker improvements, and notify you about KnowAutism product launches.
  • What we do not collect: diagnosis status, health information, funding amounts, or any details about your child.
  • Where it is stored: a Google Sheet accessible only through the knowautismca@gmail.com account.
  • Your email is never sold or shared with third parties.
  • You can request removal at any time by emailing knowautismca@gmail.com.

Signing up for the expense tracker does not enroll you in any future health-related product or service. If KnowAutism later offers something materially different, that would require a separate signup with its own consent.

What happens when I send feedback

The feedback form lets you tell us when something on the site is unclear, missing, or wrong. What you write is stored in a private Google Sheet accessible only through the knowautismca@gmail.com account. Specifically:

  • What we store: your message, the category you chose, the page you were on, the date and time, and your email address if you chose to give one.
  • Please do not include: names, OAP or AccessOAP reference numbers, health card numbers, diagnoses, or personal case information.
  • Email is optional and is used only to respond to you. Sending feedback does not add you to any mailing list.
  • How long we keep it: feedback is deleted within 90 days, unless we still need it to investigate an unresolved issue.
  • You can ask us to delete your feedback at any time by emailing knowautismca@gmail.com.

The feedback form does not have access to your Program Finder answers.
